A Creative Break: Stepping Away to Come Back Stronger

I know I haven’t been writing as much as I could, especially since my last blog post in December. That gap has felt quite noticeable to me, but it also reflects a period that has been full in other ways.

Although I haven’t been producing writing as regularly as before, I have been incredibly busy in ways that might not always seem productive at first glance. In reality, this time has shaped my routine, my thinking and my creativity more than I expected.

A lot of my time has been spent working through university assignments, keeping on top of deadlines and developing my academic skills. Alongside that, I have been heavily involved in the design and production of the student newspaper, Gair Rhydd, where I work as Deputy Design Editor. It has been a constant and detailed process, and although it can be demanding, it has also been a really creative part of my week.

One of the highlights during this time was attending the Cardiff Student Media Awards, where I received the Unsung Hero award. It was a very proud moment and a reminder that even the work that happens behind the scenes really does matter.

Outside of university and work, I have also been enjoying student life in Cardiff. I have been learning how to manage everything that comes with living independently, from doing my own washing and cleaning to cooking for myself properly. These everyday routines have become a grounding part of my life.

I have also made time to enjoy different experiences along the way. I went to Cardiff Sports Varsity, took trips to Barry when the weather was good, and attended the Sir Tom Hopkinson lecture presented by Rachel Corp. Each of these moments gave me a chance to step away from work and enjoy being part of student life.

Looking back, this creative break hasn’t really been a pause from creativity at all. It has just looked different. It has been about learning, adjusting and growing in other areas of life. Coming back to writing now feels natural, like picking up something that has always been there, just from a slightly different place. I would also like to state that I have tried everything to get rid of the buttons bellow, as I have not set up those specific apps yet, but unfortunately nothing has worked. Please ignore, thank you!
